EU REACH 2026 Updates: Compliance Risks For Heavy-Duty Rubber Bushings

Leave a message

EU REACH Annex XVII and SVHC updates took effect on July 1, 2026, introducing stricter chemical control rules for heavy-duty vehicle rubber bushings, which are widely used in suspension and chassis assemblies. The new regulation sets a 0.5 mg/kg limit for eight PAH substances in rubber components for heavy trucks. Any rubber bushing shipped to EU markets that exceeds this threshold will face customs detention and rejection. Meanwhile, ECHA added three phthalate plasticizers to the SVHC candidate list. If these substances are present at concentrations above 0.1% in your rubber bushings, suppliers must complete SCIP database notification and provide compliant SDS documents to EU importers before shipment.

Many buyers underestimate the compliance risk of rubber bushings. Unlike simple rubber washers or grommets, suspension rubber bushings work under continuous dynamic load, so rubber compound formulation usually contains more processing additives. Poorly controlled raw materials often lead to PAH or phthalate exceedance, even if the mechanical dimensions and hardness meet drawings. This has caused multiple shipment hold cases in the first two months after enforcement.

For sourcing teams, only checking hardness, tensile strength, and dimensional tolerance is no longer sufficient. Reliable suppliers need to maintain full material traceability of rubber compounds, conduct third-party PAH and SVHC testing for each batch, and prepare complete compliance documentation. Our rubber bushings are manufactured with carefully selected elastomer formulations, with full test reports available to meet updated REACH requirements for EU heavy vehicle aftermarket and OEM projects. We also support custom hardness, metal insert bonding, and accelerated aging testing according to customer specifications, helping you avoid costly customs delays.
