What is the function of cable boxes

（1） Cable tapping. There are many small cables on a long-distance line, which often leads to waste of cable usage. Therefore, in the outgoing line to the power load, the main cable is often used as the outgoing line. Then, when approaching the load, use a cable branch box to divide the main cable into several small area cables, which are connected to the load. This wiring method is widely used for the power supply of small users such as street lights in urban power grids.
（2）Cable transmission function. On relatively long lines, if the length of the cable cannot meet the requirements of the line, cable joints or cable adapter boxes should be used. Usually, cable intermediate joints are used over short distances. But when the line is relatively long, based on experience, if there are many intermediate joints in the middle of the cable, in order to ensure safety, cable branch boxes will be considered for transfer.
Cable branch boxes are widely used outdoors. With the advancement of technology, there are more and more cable branch boxes with switches, and urban cables often use dual circuit power supply. Therefore, some people directly refer to branch boxes with switches as outdoor ring network cabinets. But currently, most of these ring network cabinets cannot achieve distribution automation, but manufacturers have already introduced outdoor ring network cabinets that can automatically distribute power. This also blurs the boundary between the cable branch box and the ring network cabinet.
