According to news from Thailand on December 17, the Rubber Authority of Thailand (RAOT) revealed that due to continuous heavy rains in the southern region, rubber production in December is expected to decrease by more than 140,000 tons, and the affected rubber planting areas cover 11 provinces, covering an area of more than 5.5 million rai.

Mr. Suta, Acting Director of the Rubber Authority of Thailand, said that the continuous heavy rains in the southern region have caused floods and waterlogging in many areas, covering 11 provinces including Chumphon, Ranong, Surat Thani, Krabi, Trang, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat, Pattani, Phattalun, Yala and Songkhla. RAOT analyzed and estimated the data on rubber planting areas affected by the continuous heavy rains, and the affected area reached 5,592,621 rai, with a production reduction of more than 142,963.23 tons, accounting for 24.75% of the production this month.

At present, there are still floods waiting to be discharged in some areas, so rubber may be in short supply in the short term.
