The latest data shows that the United States imported a total of 180.01 million tires in the first eight months of 2024, an increase of 10.8% year-on-year. Among them, passenger car tire imports increased by 5.1% year-on-year to 110.95 million; truck and bus tire imports increased by 23% year-on-year to 38.42 million; aircraft tires decreased by 5% year-on-year to 201,000; motorcycle tires increased by 27% year-on-year to 2.18 million; bicycle tires increased by 10% year-on-year to 4.31 million.
From January to August, the United States imported a total of 17.33 million tires from China, an increase of 4% year-on-year. Among them, passenger car tires decreased by 37% year-on-year to 1.09 million; truck and bus tires decreased by 23% year-on-year to 1.09 million.
From January to August, the United States imported a total of 43.24 million tires from Thailand, an increase of 27% year-on-year. Among them, passenger car tires were 27.26 million, up 23% year-on-year; truck and bus tires were 10.75 million, up 29% year-on-year.
Thailand and China are the main importers of American tires.
