H-PUR Material: A Detailed Overview
I. Material Overview
H-PUR (High-Performance Polyurethane) is a collective term encompassing a class of high-performance polyurethane elastomers and thermoplastic materials. Depending on the specific application scenario, H-PUR can manifest in various product forms-including elastomeric hoses, high-density rigid foams, and cast seals.
Simply put, the H-PUR family comprises both "rubber-like" elastomers used for hoses and "rigid foam" materials utilized for pipe supports; while they share exceptional mechanical properties and durability, they differ significantly in terms of physical form and specific application.
II. Classification and Typical Applications of H-PUR
2.1 Thermoplastic Polyurethane Tubing (H-PUR Tubing)
This type of H-PUR consists of transparent or translucent elastic tubing, renowned for its exceptional flexibility and abrasion resistance.
Key Performance Characteristics:
Excellent flexibility: Capable of bending even in confined spaces without kinking or collapsing.
Superior abrasion resistance (2–3 times higher than that of ordinary rubber).
Low compression set: Retains its original shape and recovers effectively even after prolonged compression.
Good oil resistance: Resists aliphatic hydrocarbons and most lubricating oils.
Aging resistance: Resists degradation caused by oxygen and ozone.
Primary Application Areas:
Pneumatic systems (used in conjunction with push-to-connect fittings).
Compressed air conveyance.
Tubing for industrial automation equipment.
Low-pressure fluid conveyance.
2.2 High-Density Polyurethane Cold Insulation Pipe Supports (HD-PUR / HDPUR)
This type of H-PUR is a rigid, foamed polyurethane material featuring a three-dimensional, closed-cell honeycomb structure, specifically designed for pipe insulation and structural support.
Key Performance Characteristics:
Low thermal conductivity: Provides excellent thermal insulation and heat-blocking effects.
High compressive strength: Capable of supporting the weight of the piping system.
High closed-cell ratio: Exhibits extremely low water absorption, making it suitable for cryogenic operating conditions.
Good flame retardancy.
Corrosion-resistant; impervious to mold, mildew, and insect infestation.
Primary Application Areas:
LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) pipeline insulation.
Cryogenic piping systems in the petrochemical industry.
Chilled water piping for central air conditioning systems.
Cold chain logistics and low-temperature storage tanks.
2.3 Cast Polyurethane Sealing Materials (H-PU)
Key Properties (taking H-PU 95 as an example):
Exceptionally superior hydrolysis resistance (remains functional even in conditions where other PU materials have failed).
High elasticity and high dynamic load-bearing capacity.
Low gas permeability.
Excellent machinability via turning, milling, and grinding processes.
