PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide)

Leave a message

PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide) is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic with an excellent combination of properties. In simple terms, it's often seen as a more cost-effective alternative to PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone)-retaining most of PEEK's core performance but at a fraction of the cost, sometimes as low as one-tenth.

Key Properties

The outstanding performance of PPS comes from its unique molecular structure-rigid benzene rings combined with flexible sulfide ether linkages-giving it these "all-around" characteristics:

Property Description
High-Temperature Resistance Long-term use at 200–240°C, short-term up to 260°C; heat deflection temperature ranges from 115°C (neat resin) to over 260°C (modified grades) under 1.8 MPa load
Inherent Flame Retardancy Achieves UL94 V-0 rating without additives-self-extinguishing when removed from flame
Chemical Resistance Highly resistant to most acids, bases, and organic solvents; chemical stability is second only to PTFE (Teflon)
Dimensional Stability Extremely low moisture absorption (approx. 0.02–0.03%), maintaining high precision even in humid or high-temperature environments
Excellent Electrical Properties Low dielectric constant and dissipation factor, ideal for high-frequency signal transmission applications

Major Applications

Thanks to these properties, PPS has become a critical material across multiple high-end industries:

New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) – Insulation frames, connectors, busbars for battery, motor, and power electronics; also used in electronic water pumps, valves, and thermal management systems

Electronics & AI Servers – CPU/GPU sockets, high-speed connector housings, capable of withstanding high temperatures generated by high power consumption

Industrial & Environmental – Corrosion- and wear-resistant pump casings, impellers, valves; also used in industrial filtration bags for flue gas treatment

Emerging Fields – Expanding into 5G/6G communications (low-dielectric antenna substrates), humanoid robots (lightweight components), and low-altitude aircraft (eVTOL/drones
