What is rubber?
Technically speaking, rubber is a natural polymer of isoprene (usually cis-1,4-polyisoprene). It is a hydrocarbon polymer that exists as a latex in the sap of various plants and can also be made synthetically. A small fraction (about 5%) of other materials such as proteins, fatty acids, resins and inorganic materials (salts) are also present in natural rubber. As mentioned earlier, rubber can also be manufactured artificially or synthetically. The artificially produced type of rubber is called synthetic rubber.
In simple terms, rubber can be defined as a viscous, elastic solid made from a milky liquid called latex, which is obtained from various types of rubber trees.

The elastic material extracted from the latex sap of trees is called natural rubber. Natural rubber can be vulcanized and processed into various rubber products. Various tropical and subtropical trees in the Amazon, Southeast Asia, and Africa produce latex tubular latex in the form of an emulsion. The rubber molecules in these latex tubes are made up of 5 carbon atoms and 8 hydrogen atoms. A large number of these rubber molecules are interconnected to form long chain-like structures. This rubber molecular chain, called a polymer, gives the rubber its elasticity.

Any kind of artificial elastomer (a type of polymer) is called synthetic rubber. Elastomers can be defined as materials that have elasticity. Therefore, the type of rubber made from chemicals as an alternative to natural rubber is synthetic rubber. There are many types of polymers used to make synthetic rubber types. Therefore, different types of synthetic rubber have different properties tailored to the specific needs of the rubber products industry
