Core classification system for plastics
1. Classified by application performance
Universal plastics: high production volume, low price, average performance, covering daily high-frequency scenarios. Common types include PE (polyethylene), PP (polypropylene), PVC (polyvinyl chloride), PS (polystyrene), ABS, etc
.
Engineering plastics: have excellent comprehensive properties (high strength, heat resistance, corrosion resistance), can be used as structural materials, with relatively low production and high prices. Common types include PC (polycarbonate), POM (polyoxymethylene), PA (nylon), PET (polyester), PBT, etc
.
Special plastics: with special properties such as high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and self-lubricating, used in extreme or special scenarios. Common types include polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), polyetheretherketone (PEEK), polyphenylene sulfide (PES), etc
.
2. Classify by heating behavior
Thermoplastic: It can be repeatedly heated and softened, cooled and hardened within a specific temperature range, and supports recycling. Common types include ABS, PP, POM, PC, PS, PA, etc
.
Thermosetting plastics: After one heating molding, the shape is fixed and no longer softens, with excellent heat resistance and mechanical properties. Common types include phenolic resin, epoxy resin, amino resin, polyurethane, etc
