Characteristics of solid silicone rubber

Leave a message

Solid silicone rubber is composed of a mixture of special silicone rubber and high-purity silicone powder, so it has the properties of both inorganic and organic materials. Solid silicone rubber has various excellent characteristics compared to other organic rubbers, which are introduced as follows:

1. Heat resistance

Silicone rubber has almost no change at 150C℃, and can still maintain good elasticity while organic rubber becomes more brittle.

2. Cold resistance

The brittle temperature of silicone rubber is -60℃~-70℃ while that of general organic rubber is -20℃~-30℃, so it can still maintain excellent properties at low temperatures.

3. Weather resistance

Silicone rubber has physical properties that are almost unchanged for a long time when exposed to ultraviolet rays, wind and rain.

4. Oil resistance, solvent resistance, chemical resistance

Silicone rubber has excellent resistance to oil compounds at high temperatures. They also have excellent resistance to solvents and other chemicals, and are almost unaffected by polar organic compounds and diluted acids and alkalis.

5. Electrical insulation

Silicone rubbers are electrically insulative over a wide range of temperatures and frequencies. Even when immersed in water, there is little degradation of performance.

6. Compression permanent distortion

They maintain excellent compression permanent distortion over a stable temperature range (-60°C to +250°C).

7. Transparency and coloring

Silicone rubbers are highly transparent, which means they can be easily colored with various pigments.
