Fluororubber is a high-performance synthetic rubber. Its advantages include high-temperature resistance (up to 250°C), resistance to strong acids and alkalis, and oil resistance. Its disadvantages include poor low-temperature performance, processing difficulties, and high cost. Here are the detailed pros and cons: Advantages-High-temperature resistance: Fluororubber can be used for extended periods in environments ranging from 200°C to 250°C and can withstand even higher temperatures for short durations. Corrosion resistance (chemical resistance): It offers the best chemical resistance among all rubber types, withstanding strong acids, strong alkalis, various lubricants, and solvents. Aging resistance: It possesses excellent oxidation and ozone resistance, remaining durable even after prolonged outdoor exposure. Disadvantages-Poor low-temperature performance: Fluororubber becomes hard and brittle at low temperatures; the low-temperature limit for standard grades is typically around -15°C to -20°C. High cost: Both raw material and processing costs are high, making it several times more expensive than common nitrile rubber. Processing difficulties: The material is difficult to vulcanize and shape, placing extremely high demands on the manufacturing process. Sensitivity to specific solvents: Despite its robustness, it is prone to swelling or damage when exposed to polar solvents such as ketones (e.g., acetone) and esters.
