Electrical Protected BMC Molded Motor Seal
BMC, bulk molding compounand, forms the base of this BMC molded motor seal. It is a glass-fiber reinforced thermoset polyster composite. After curing within the mold, the material will not re-melt when exposed to sustained heat generated during motor operation, unlike conventional thermoplastic sealing components. This characteristic keeps the seal's geometry consistent through repeated thermal cycles during motor startup and shutdown.
Selected grades maintain UL94 V-0 flame retardancy and strong tracking resistance. Con tinous working temperature can reach 150℃ to 170℃, with low water absorbtion that preserves dielectrics strength in humid workshop environments. The dense molded structure blocks dust, moisture and minor condensate from reaching internal copper windings, while retaining electrical isolation between live parts and motor casing. It can be formulated to pass glow wire testing for motors deployed in household appliances and industrial drive systems.
Fabrication is completed by compression or injection molding. The mold cavity is machined to match contour, mounting notches and cutouts from customer technical drawings. Wall thickness can be tuned according to target voltage rating and assembly preload. Metal inserts can be embedded during molding for easier bolt mounting, removing extra assembly steps in mass production. Finished parts go through edge trimming to eliminate flash before delivery.
Samples are produced from formal production molds before mass manufacturing. These trial samples can undergo thermal cycling and dielectric testing to verify insulation performance and dimensional stability. Low molding shrinkage helps the BMC molded motor seal maintain tight fitting tolerance over years of vibration from rotating motor parts. The composite resists weak alkaline cleaning agents commonly used in motor maintenance.
