Nitrile (Buna N) is a synthetic copolymer of acrylonitrile and butadiene. It is highly resistant to petroleum oils, mineral oils, vegetable oils, and many acids. It also has a high resistance to a broad range of aromatic hydrocarbons. Its applications range mostly in tough industrial environments and white Nitrile Buna-N is FDA approved as a food-grade gasket material.
