A rubber bushing, sometimes called a rubber bush, is a vibration isolator that provides a flexible interface between two rigid components. The rubber on the shock absorber acts as a buffer, absorbing and damping the energy generated by the interaction of the two parts. It separates parts while allowing a limited amount of movement, minimizing vibration and noise. Automotive rubber bushings are used in suspension systems because vibration damping is critical to preventing noise and vibration from passing through on- and off-road vehicles.
